We’ll be honest — we only knew a little ourselves. That’s exactly why we created a full Urban Legend special issue dedicated to teaching young people what finance and economics actually mean.

Whether we like it or not, money plays a major role in our everyday lives. Sadly, many people grow up without learning how to manage their finances, understand basic terminology, or make informed financial decisions. That’s why we teamed up with Sparebankforeningen, the Norwegian Savings Banks Association — a national organization that represents Norway’s savings banks and promotes financial education, responsible banking and consumer awareness.

Together, we set out to make an issue that explains finance in a way kids and teens can understand: what the terms mean, how money works in the real world, and how to make smart choices for the future. Personally, I think it’s a shame that schools don’t teach more about financial literacy. With this issue, we wanted to spark curiosity and give young people the knowledge many of us wish we had earlier.

Working with The Norwegian Savings Banks Association was a fantastic experience. They truly cared about empowering kids and helping them understand money — not just as a subject, but as a life skill. We spent a lot of time developing the story together, because there are countless directions you can take a finance-themed issue. In the end, we chose to follow two young characters who are struggling financially. Through their journey — their decisions, mistakes and consequences — we show that it’s never too late to take responsibility and turn your life around. That message is at the heart of the story: everyone has the power to change for the better.
